Closets by definition are a designated built-it space to store our possessions in our house. Most homes today have a walk in closet at least in the master bath or bedroom to store all of the clothes and shoes of the owners. They have evolved from closets just barely big enough to step into, to a large well-appointed changing rooms.
Walk in closets today in luxury homes may be as large as a bedroom and may even be two stories tall. They normally feature storage areas for hanging and folded clothes, shoes, purses, sunglasses and jewelry.
In addition, they have a changing area with mirrors, a table or counter area to lay out the outfits and a sitting area to put on shoes or socks. It is also not uncommon to have a laundry area in the closet so that the clothing need not leave the closet except when worn.
Walk in closet storage is usually open without doors on the storage areas so that all items are visible. Some, however prefer the more finished look of having doors on each separate storage area. This gives a clean look but can be bothersome when you are trying to find a particular article of clothing.
